See A Performance Of South Pacific!

South Pacific

If you’re tired of going to the movies, or just want a fresh date night idea, you’ve got to check out South Pacific while it’s showing at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts!

Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s masterpiece has it all – romance, duty, and prejudice. The story takes place during WWII and follows the anecdotes of a real-life U.S. Navy commander stationed on an island, embarking in two intercultural love stories. Nellie, a nurse from Arkansas, falls for Emile, a French plantation owner on the island, who has two children from his late Polynesian wife, and then at the same time Cable, a U.S. Lieutenant, falls for a beautiful island native named Liat. The dark cloud of the war, which is coming closer to their island paradise, makes it harder for these cool American characters to reconcile their own cultural prejudices as they fall in love with their forever people.

South Pacific starts performances on July 24 and runs through September 15. Dinner and Show tickets (which is really the most amazing!) and show-only tickets are available for purchase here, or by calling (540) 370-4300. Tickets are $72 for adults, $67 for seniors, and $48 for children. For play-only, tickets are $53 for adults and $37 for children. The Riverside Center for Performing Arts is located at 95 Riverview Parkway, Fredericksburg, Virginia, 22406.
