The power of the 2022 Dodge Durango starts off with the 3.6-liter V6 engine with 293 horsepower at 6,400 RPMs, which can be upgraded into the 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of 710 horsepower at 6,100 RPMs. The 3.6L V6 engine can deliver 260-lb-ft of torque with a towing capacity of 6,200 lbs, meanwhile, the Supercharged 6.2L V8 engine can deliver 645-lb-ft of torque with a towing capacity of up to 8,700 lbs. The engines all have different goals for different models with the 5.7L V8 included standard with the R/T, 6.4L V8 in the SRT 392 and the most advanced 6.2L V8 included in the incredibly fast SRT Hellcat. This type of power is great to have, but it’s just as important to have control over it. This is where the 52/48 weight distribution comes into play, allowing the Durango to shift with the drive axle to increase downforce and improve traction. The new trailer sway control also applies brake pressure to alternating wheels to ensure stable and consistent towing.
