Make Some Hot Chocolate From Scratch
This is the time of year where cuddling on the couch buried in blankets with a hot drink in your hand becomes a necessity. You could brew a hot cup of coffee, or you could boil some water and make tea. But if you want something that will really satisfy your sweet tooth and warm you up, hot chocolate is always the way to go. It’s the comfort drink of the season, and we want to share an amazing homemade recipe with you!
What You Need:
Head to the store and grab the following: whole milk, sugar, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla extract, whipped cream, and marshmallows. You can also grab cinnamon sticks, sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or any kind of garnish you wish to top the drink with. The more the merrier!
What to Do:
The steps are very simple! First, you want to add 2 cups of milk and 2 tbsp of sugar in a small saucepan and heat it on the stove on medium. While it’s heating up, put 4 oz of the chocolate into the microwave and heat it for 30 seconds. Stir, and do that again. When the milk is scalding (which is 180 degrees F, or when you see bubbles on the side, NOT boiling) turn the heat off. Add in the chocolate, but whisk as you combine. Lastly, add in vanilla extract, and top with whipped cream and whatever else you want!
Just a friendly tip, if you are using semisweet or milk chocolate, you might want to assess the sugar amount you put in. This recipe is for bittersweet chocolate, so you might not need any sugar if you use different chocolate.
