The Jeep Heritage Lives in the Grand Cherokee

If you're unfamiliar with the Jeep Cherokee, the Jeep Cherokee was not exactly a predecessor of the Grand Cherokee, but the Grand Cherokee was created based on the Jeep Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee was unveiled in 1993, which filled the gap between the small SUV and large, and the Grand Cherokee also a better, more luxurious vehicle. Since 1993, the Grand Cherokee has had four generations, with the fourth generation being the currently produced vehicle.

The first generation of the Grand Cherokee made improvements upon the original Cherokee by adding more space, upgrading sound systems, including anti-lock braking system (ABS), and having an available power sunroof. For its time in the early 1990s, this upgraded the original Cherokee into a luxury vehicle. Throughout the 1990s, the Grand Cherokee continued to increase its power starting at 190 horsepower in 1993 to 220 horsepower in 1995 and then 245 horsepower in 1998. From the second generation to today's generation, the Grand Cherokee continued to add luxurious features to the vehicle and provide different trims for specific features. To describe the luxury of the vehicle, the Grand Cherokee had the option to have heated seats and a dual automatic climate zone control in 1999! Those two comfort controls are still not standard in all vehicles today.
