The following is a list of tips and tricks to help you succeed with your New Year’s resolutions:

  • Don’t Tire Out – When making resolutions, it’s important to set realistic goals. More importantly, however, you’ll want to gradually begin your hard work. After all, you can’t just jump into the deep end of a pool if you can’t swim. So, for those of you beginning a new exercise routine, don’t immediately hit the gym and start lifting any object you can find. You also don’t want to run miles at a time. Start small. Run on a treadmill for a few minutes. Lift a few weights. You must let your body become accustomed to this change.
  • Don’t Overwhelm Yourself – If you have several goals, make sure they don’t overlap one another. After all, you can’t try to quit smoking and start working out all at the same time. If you try to accomplish your goals all at once, you’ll likely feel overwhelmed and end up quitting all activities.
  • Don’t Get Discouraged – Inevitably, you’re going to mess up. You might have a cold that doesn’t let you get out of bed for a few days. This will throw your exercise routine upside down. That’s okay – these moments are expected. When these instances happen, don’t feel bad. Think about all the progress you’ve made. You’ve come so far, so just keep at it!
